It's been ruff

Well, its has been! So I've done 3 races since the Temecula weekend.

LA Circuit Race
Hunnikens Criterium
Ontario Gran Prix

LA Circuit Race, is a 3 mile course with 2 180 degree turns 1 direction into the wind and one away from the wind. I was getting sick the day before of race but had payed ahead of time So I did it. This Race I actually felt like I had speed in my legs.  I ended up off the front in groups of 10 and 20 3 or 4 times but none of the moves stuck.  By the end of race I was tired and every effort to get to the front the group kept pushing me into the gutter. I came out of the last turn in 60th moved into 40th (pretty bad, but it has been worse).

Hunnikens Criterium, I always feel real good at this race. So I sat in and marked Justin Beope who always finishes well.  He went off the  front twice and I went with hi both times. the 1st time we almost split the field. The 2nd time he saw me sitting on his wheel and quit. So The las 3 laps a team actually had a lead-out train and I was to far back to get in the sprint.

Ontario Gran Prix, Ah the thorn in my side. This race deserves it's own post so I will write about this one shortly

Murrietta Crit

Well I sat in and saved myself for the final 3rd of the race (the last 20 minutes). I never felt that good unless they were going slower. With 20 minutes to go James Enright went to the front with a teammate.  James is really strong/fast so I followed him up and was in the top 10 quickly they then proceeded to turn on the gas and we held 32 mph for 2.5 minutes. It was windy up there and suddenly I remembered why I was hiding near the back.  Within that lap I was burning lots of matches (energy/efforts) I came unglued and slid to the back hanging on for on more lap before I popped off. I am very disappointed, even a little angry.  Need more speed!!

the night before

Well tomorrow is the start of the  tour de murietta. I don't have jitters but I am expectant.  I hope to do well, as I have worked towards this race.  So if your reading pray for me. I'll try not to stress and just do what I am supposed to.

This is a random thoughts post while listening to Josh Garrels

Hope this is not to confusing but here we go

I am swollen up with me All my feelings All my emotions
And the violin in my ear Keeps murmuring the same note
The same feelings The ones that are making me feel swollen

I am blank and I am filled
I am filled with Joy and Sorrow
 Crying and pitiful I am

I feel all of there pain and I understand
The pain of those who attack you
I have been attacked

I want to hold you I want to love you
I want to comfort you  I want to protect you
Oh little children I love you

And still I fall so short
And but for his grace
do I hold and cling to his merciful being

Training

So I am training for a 2 day race (The Tour of Murrietta). Training right now consists of 4 x 4s.  4 minutes as fast as I can go 4 minutes rest, times 4.   I'm doing it on a 3% grade and trying to average 19 mph.  It is going well and were gonna see if it is helpful in the next 2 weeks.

Peace out,
J.

Ontario Crit

Well this was the first race that I thought I was going to do well in and the first one that was actually fast. My category usually averages between 24 and 25.5 miles per hour. Today was 26.9 for 55 minutes.
My legs felt flat the entire race and wouldn't wake up. We cyclists like to call that having no pop. When it came time to sprint I went around some people but not enough to get in the top 20.  I was disappointed, but there is a lot more racing to do this year. If you want to see a picture of me suffering click on the link below.

I also did 45 minutes (half) of the Pro race which was stacked and averaged 29 mph owww!!

Race prep

Well yesterday I did 2 lead out sprints and today I am gonna do one. I am on a no beer weekend, going to consume food and water like it is going out of stock.  1 more lead out sprint to do today and no hot sauce to screw up the pipes.

Well Ontario Gran Prix is in 2 days, my concussion is gone, and I love this race.  In addition I just got my new team kit and it looks sharp pictures to come. I am really excited to see how form holds up during a race that suits me. Wish me God Luck.

Cheers
